How Important is Office Furniture?

I recently rejoined a firm who I had worked with a few years ago.

The transition back to work after a couple of years off has been really hard.

It was quite difficult to get myself back into the working regiment and focus my time on work as well as getting the balance right with family life. I had been used to getting out of bed when I felt like it, having a pleasant relaxing breakfast and then getting some housework done before it was time for lunch.

Now I am at my desk by 8.30am working busily away until 4.00pm.    It’s quite hard as when I get home, I still have loads of work to do and don’t usually sit down until late in the evening.

I have only been back at work for a couple of months now and already I feel like I never been away.  It has been great and everybody has welcomed me back with open arms. I am loving being back, but even though the company seems to have grown, some things inevitably have remained the same.

One thing I have noticed is that the office furniture could really do with a bit of sprucing up.

I will admit that some of the office chairs we use for our visitors look like they wouldn’t be out of place being used as hotel furniture in a 2 star hotel!

Parts of our office look more like a conference facility rather than the dynamic office we would like to portray.   I have suggested that we look into purchasing some reception furniture that is a bit more in tune with our image.

I think I may be pushing the Managing Director to the extreme, but I think some beautiful contemporary furniture wouldn’t look out of place.

In this busy and fast paced life we all seem to lead now, I am convinced that first impressions really do count for something.
